Breakthrough Education Technology to be Showcased at Huffington Post's DNC Entrepreneurship Exposition

myEdGPS turns roadblocks into roadmaps for parents of struggling students

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Sept. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Although playing to a partisan crowd at the Democratic National Convention this week, Massachusetts entrepreneur Adam Goldberg, M.Ed., is convinced that the technology platform he will soon release will be embraced by both sides of the aisle.   Goldberg's start-up was selected as one of 60 across the country to participate in a job creation exposition at both national conventions.  The Huffington Post's exposition, titled What Is Working – A Bipartisan Search for Solutions to the Job Crisis, is sponsored by LinkedIn, Microsoft, NBC and several major foundations.

Goldberg will present myEdGPS, the first-of-its-kind online platform for parents of the more than 19 million children with Autism, ADHD, Learning Disabilities or other exceptional needs, at the Ritz Carlton in Charlotte, NC, 201 East Trade Street from 2:30-5:30 p.m.

Navigating the special education process can be a daunting, frustrating and costly experience for parents who often can't find the information and resources they need at the time they need them.  Parents of struggling students often complain they are stymied by the process of evaluating, then planning out the most effective and well-suited educational direction for their child.

"As an education advisor for more than 15 years, I grew frustrated turning away 95% of the calls from people who needed help for their child but couldn't afford it," said Goldberg.

The resources parents can access using this platform take students from preschool, right up through their college years, thereby providing long-term direction, not just short-term solutions.

Acting as both a virtual advocate and assistant, myEdGPS makes education planning easier than ever by:

  • Prescribing an action plan
  • Tracking progress against key milestones
  • Drafting effective letters to school
  • Providing an online binder for all materials
  • Matching individual needs to paying partner programs, providers and schools

Most of the tools and information myEdGPS offers are free or at minimal cost to help parents, regardless of their income, turn roadblocks into roadmaps for their children.  myEdGPS will soon start beta testing and parents who are interested in providing feedback for the platform's 2013 launch can test drive the technology at www.myEdGPS.com/launch.
